WEEK 1 HIGHLIGHTS

Betania Shelter for Children

Week 1 at Betania unfolded with a quiet kind of magic — the kind that comes from steady effort, gentle encouragement, and small breakthroughs.
Our mentors spent the afternoon guiding students through

Week 1 closed on a hopeful note — the kind that stays with you.

Even with vocabulary gaps, mixed levels, and crowded tables, our students showed remarkable patience, curiosity, and heart. They tried, they laughed, they asked for help, and they celebrated the tiniest wins. And through it all, our mentors created a space where learning felt safe, warm, and possible.

This first week wasn’t just about lessons.
It was about building trust, finding momentum, and proving that every child — with the right support — can move one small step closer to confidence.

“Progress begins the moment a child feels seen.”

English, math, and basic skills, helping them tackle vocabulary, word-form exercises, and foundational concepts that many of them struggled with.

Despite the challenges, the atmosphere remained warm and lively. Each student tried their best, asked questions, and stayed engaged — and even within a single session, we could already see their confidence growing.
